Things You Should Know about Electric Clothes Dryer
The most popular model of electric clothes dryer is a vented dryer. It functions in such a way that the warm moist air gets out of the dryer through a hole or “venting kit” at the rear of the dryer. Usually, a vent is found on the outside of the place so the warm, moist air is removed from the inside. However, people are wrong when they think that vented dryers must be vented, as it is possible to have a vented dryer without an external vent. If you would rather use a vented dryer without any venting then you need to be sure the unit is in an open environment where it can have a good airflow and the deflector plate attached. Further, before you use it you should empty the lint out in order to make sure a window or door is open to give some circulation. If you don’t do this, there is a chance that your paint will start to peel, or even a fire may begin.
Less popular and not so cheap types of dryers are condenser dryers. They are most suitable for confined spaces. In comparison with vented dryers they are bigger in size and weight. The condenser dryer takes out the moisture from the air, which is then kept within the unit to be emptied manually or pumped away to a drain. The dry air is then reused in the machine.
Apart from these two models, there are also the Timer and Auto Sensing dryer. Although being more expensive to buy, auto sensing dryer can save your money in the long run. Sounds incredible, but it’s true! An auto sensing dryer is equipped with moisture sensors which establish when the clothes are dry and automatically turn the dryer off. This clothes dryer model can save you up to 15% on your running costs and therefore is better alternative for your clothes.
In my opinion, a vented dryer with auto sensing is better to provide. If you can vent the dryer externally do! However, if external venting is not an option then open the windows and let the air in as the dryer is running. You should be very careful if you have a vented dryer. You are recommended to stay at home while it runs just in precaution to prevent fire. If you still must go out make sure your dryer is not over full, whether the lint filter has been cleaned out, and if there is plenty of air circulating the dryer. Needless to say, it would be best option to use nature’s natural drying system, the Sun!
